Family Ministries Certification Seminar
Family Ministries Certification Seminar

Family Ministries conducted its first area certification seminar for all church family directors, associates, assistants, and others who attended on Sabbath, January 21, at the Thunderbird Adventist Academy Student Center.

Pastor Ed Keyes and Pastor Villamor Meriales led out in presentations. Ten individuals were very happy to receive their certificates, which give them the authority to give lectures in their respective churches. The theme for the certification seminar for this year is "Building Homes of Hope and Wholeness." It is the prayer of the department to preserve all families in the Adventist community, especially in the Arizona Conference.

The English language version of the annual Adventurer Family Fun Weekend was held at Leoni Meadows on January 27-29 after being postponed in October. The same event in Spanish was held in November without a hitch.

This year’s theme, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” gave NCC Adventurers and their families a weekend to celebrate international cultures, languages, food, and games. More than 85 people attended from all over the conference.

The designation follows earlier recognition from the California state senate for the hospital’s establishment of the comprehensive sickle cell treatment center, which was launched in 2017. Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital now treats some 300 patients with the condition each year, and doctors have used stem cell therapy to cure more than a dozen sickle cell patients of the genetic disease.
