Thanks to the support of the Northern California Conference Planned Giving Department, the Urban Ministries Department is excited to introduce its new shower RV—a mobile resource designed to bring practical relief to those experiencing homelessness.
Urban Ministries Director Rudy Peters welcomed staff at the NCC offices to tour the new vehicle, which features three shower rooms, changing areas, washer-dryer units, and a towed support trailer. “Our goal is to serve urban areas where the need is greatest,” Peters explained. “We will partner with local churches that form teams, receive training, and bring this service to their communities.”
The program will begin in Oakland, Richmond, Vallejo, Antioch, and Concord, where churches will use the RV to offer more than just a warm shower. It will also be stocked with hair-cutting supplies, bicycle repair tools, clothing, and hygiene items. Peters added, “More than anything, we want to help restore dignity and show people they are not forgotten.” Peters also expressed gratitude to Spencer Gibson and the team at RV Country for their efforts in transforming this RV into a meaningful tool for service.
Urban Ministries is one of the five ministries supported monthly by the Conference Advance Offering. It provides hope, practical assistance, and spiritual renewal to communities facing real challenges. Support makes it possible to expand these efforts, meet immediate needs, and foster long-term spiritual growth and unity in urban communities.

Del concepto a la realidad
Gracias al apoyo del Departamento de Donaciones Planificadas de la NCC, el Departamento de Ministerios Urbanos se complace en presentar su nueva ducha RV—un recurso móvil diseñado para brindar alivio práctico a las personas sin hogar.
El director del Ministerio Urbano, Rudy Peters, dio la bienvenida al personal en las oficinas de NCC para recorrer el nuevo vehículo, que cuenta con tres duchas, vestuarios, unidades de lavadora-secadora y un remolque. «Nuestro objetivo es servir a las áreas urbanas donde la necesidad es mayor», explicó Peters. «Nos asociaremos con iglesias para que formen equipos, reciban capacitación y lleven este servicio a sus comunidades».
El programa comenzará en Oakland, Richmond, Vallejo, Antioch y Concord, donde las iglesias utilizarán la casa rodante para ofrecer algo más que una ducha caliente. También estará abastecido con suministros para cortar el cabello, herramientas de reparación de bicicletas, ropa y artículos de higiene. Peters agregó: «Más que nada, queremos ayudar a restaurar la dignidad y mostrarle a la gente que no son olvidados». Peters también expresó su gratitud a Spencer Gibson y al equipo de RV Country por sus esfuerzos para transformar ese RV en una herramienta significativa para el servicio.
Urban Ministries es uno de los ministerios apoyados por la Ofrenda Anticipada de la Conferencia. Brinda esperanza, asistencia práctica y renovación espiritual a las comunidades que enfrentan desafíos reales. El apoyo hace posible ampliar esos esfuerzos, satisfacer las necesidades inmediatas y fomentar el crecimiento espiritual a largo plazo y la unidad en las comunidades urbanas.
