Two very different towns—Silver Springs, Nevada, and Salt Lake City, Utah—two different stories, but the same Spirit at work.
Meet Andy, a volunteer lay pastor in Silver Springs, a quiet desert town of just over 6,000 people. Recently, Andy and his congregation began asking a big question: Can we really make a difference in a place like this?
About 500 miles away, across the state line, in the heart of Salt Lake City, Byron has been asking his own questions. Raised in a very different religious culture, Byron’s mother chose to read him Uncle Arthur’s bedtime stories every night. This was his first introduction to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Later on, he began searching, reading, praying, and seeking a church that aligned with what his heart remembered from his childhood.
Back in Silver Springs, after receiving a challenge from Pastor Carlos Camacho, president of the Nevada-Utah Conference, Andy and his church accepted the call to be part of Pentecost 2025. They may be a small church in a rural town, but they chose to move forward in faith.
Meanwhile, Byron’s search led him to walk through the doors of Salt Lake Central church on the last Sabbath of March 2024. There, he found a community that felt like home. “I know what you guys are talking about,” he said during Sabbath School. And on April 5, 2025, Byron was baptized in Salt Lake City.
“After a year of God stirring up my heart and convicting my spirit, I have joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church,” he shared.
That same Sabbath, three new believers were baptized at Andy’s church in Silver Springs.
“Dear friends,” shared Pastor Camacho, “God is calling His people from every corner of every city.… That is evident. We are in the business of growing loving followers of Jesus.”
As Pentecost 2025 continues to gain momentum, the stories from Salt Lake City and Silver Springs are just examples of how the Holy Spirit is still moving, and the call to join the mission is still open.

Pentecostés 2025: historias de Silver Springs y Salt Lake City
Dos ciudades muy diferentes, Silver Springs, Nevada, y Salt Lake City, Utah, dos historias diferentes, pero el mismo Espíritu en acción.
Andy es un pastor laico voluntario en Silver Springs, una tranquila ciudad desértica de poco más de 6,000 personas. Recientemente, Andy y su congregación comenzaron a hacerse una gran pregunta: ¿Realmente podemos hacer un impacto en un lugar como este?
A unos 500 kilómetros de distancia, al otro lado de la frontera estatal, en el corazón de Salt Lake City, Byron ha estado haciendo sus propias preguntas. Criado en una cultura religiosa muy diferente, la madre de Byron optó por leerle los cuentos del tío Arthur antes de dormir todas las noches. Esa fue su primera introducción a la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día. Más tarde, comenzó a buscar, leer, orar y buscar una iglesia que se alineara con lo que su corazón recordaba de su infancia.
De vuelta en Silver Springs, después de recibir un desafío del pastor Carlos Camacho, presidente de la Nevada-Utah Conference, Andy y su iglesia aceptaron el llamado a ser parte de Pentecostés 2025. Aunque son una pequeña iglesia en un pueblo rural, eligieron seguir adelante por fe.
Mientras tanto, la búsqueda de Byron lo llevó a cruzar las puertas de la iglesia Central de Salt Lake el último sábado de marzo de 2024. Encontró una comunidad en la que se sentía como en casa. «Sé de lo que están hablando», dijo durante la Escuela Sabática. Y el 5 de abril de 2025, Byron se bautizó en Salt Lake City.
«Después de un año de Dios agitando mi corazón y convenciendo mi espíritu, me he unido a la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día», compartió.
Ese mismo sábado, tres nuevos creyentes fueron bautizados en la iglesia de Andy en Silver Springs.
«Queridos amigos», compartió el pastor Camacho, «Dios está llamando a su pueblo desde cada rincón de cada ciudad... Eso es evidente. Estamos en el negocio de hacer crecer seguidores amorosos de Jesús».
A medida que Pentecostés 2025 continúa ganando impulso, las historias de Salt Lake City y Silver Springs son solo ejemplos de cómo el Espíritu Santo todavía se está moviendo, y el llamado a unirse a la misión aún está abierto.
