More than 300 women gathered on the weekend of April 4-6 for the Hispanic Women’s Retreat. This event commemorated in celebration 35 years of ministry with messages of healing, faith, and community for Hispanic women within Southeastern California Conference. Centered on the theme “From Despair to Faith,” the weekend offered a powerful space for reflection, spiritual renewal, and connection. The retreat’s theme verse, Psalm 94:19—“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul”—served as a timely reminder of God’s enduring presence and comfort.
At the heart of the retreat was Mabel Duncan, pastor, whose deeply personal testimony left a lasting impression. Her openness in recounting her journey from despair to steadfast faith served as a framework for the weekend’s message, inviting attendees into a shared space of vulnerability, strength, and hope.
The retreat also featured testimonies from several other women, whose stories of resilience and faith in the face of adversity fostered a sense of deep spiritual connection. Times of dedicated prayer and heartfelt fellowship further nurtured this growing sense of sisterhood and encouragement among the women.
Sabbath programming offered rich spiritual and historical insight. The morning session explored the lives of courageous women in the Bible, highlighting their unwavering devotion amid profound trials. One attendee shared, “We learned invaluable lessons from their steadfast devotion and remarkable resilience—lessons we can apply to our own lives and journeys of faith.”
In the evening, the spotlight turned to influential women from secular history. Through biographical presentations and detailed historical costuming, attendees were transported through time to celebrate the legacy of women whose strength and courage have left lasting marks on the world. The segment emphasized the value of learning and honoring the contributions of women throughout the ages.
Throughout the weekend, expressions of gratitude from attendees were abundant, underscoring the retreat’s profound impact. It was a weekend marked not just by teaching and testimony but by spiritual growth and shared strength.
The Hispanic Women’s Ministries Department of the Southeastern California Conference remains deeply committed to fostering events that uplift, inspire, and unify. Retiro de hispanas provee esperanza y curación
Más de 300 mujeres se reunieron el fin de semana del 4 al 6 de abril para el Retiro de Hispanas. El evento conmemoró la celebración de 35 años de ministerio con mensajes de curación, fe y comunidad para las mujeres hispanas dentro de la Southeastern California Conference. Centrado en el tema «De la desesperación a la fe», el fin de semana ofreció un impactante espacio para la reflexión, la renovación espiritual y la conexión. El versículo del tema del retiro: «Cuando la ansiedad era grande dentro de mí, tu consuelo trajo gozo a mi alma» (Salmo 94:19), sirvió como un recordatorio oportuno de la presencia y el consuelo perdurables de Dios.
En el corazón del retiro estaba Mabel Duncan, pastora, cuyo testimonio profundamente personal dejó una impresión duradera. Su franqueza al relatar su experiencia de la desesperación a la fe inquebrantable sirvió como marco para el mensaje del fin de semana, invitando a los asistentes a un espacio común de vulnerabilidad, fortaleza y esperanza.

Una asistente compartió: «Aprendimos lecciones invaluables de su firme devoción y notable resiliencia, lecciones que podemos aplicar a nuestras vidas y viajes de fe».
Por la noche, la atención se centró en mujeres influyentes de la historia secular. A través de presentaciones biográficas y vestuario histórico detallado, las asistentes fueron transportadas a través del tiempo para celebrar el legado de mujeres cuya fortaleza y arrojo han dejado marcas duraderas en el mundo. El segmento enfatizó el valor del aprendizaje y honrar las contribuciones de las mujeres a lo largo de los siglos.
Durante todo el fin de semana, las expresiones de gratitud de las asistentes fueron abundantes, lo que subraya el profundo impacto del retiro. Fue un fin de semana marcado no solo por la enseñanza y el testimonio, sino también por el crecimiento espiritual y la fortaleza compartida.
El Departamento de Ministerios de Mujeres Hispanas de la Southeastern California Conference sigue profundamente comprometido a fomentar eventos que eleven, inspiren y unifiquen. Ese retiro fue un testimonio vívido de esa misión. Las organizadoras expresaron un sincero agradecimiento al comité del ministerio de mujeres hispanas, cuya dedicación hizo posible el evento.
