New Education Staff for Hawaii Conference

Nyllah Safotu

Mauna Loa Christian School

Aloha! My name is Nyllah Safotu, and I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, Hawai’i. Growing up as a local, I developed a love for playing sand volleyball, discovering good food, traveling, and experiencing new cultures. As the daughter of an Indonesian mother and Samoan father, I was blessed to be part of a culturally diverse and nurturing community centered around the Honolulu Central church. It was there that I developed a deep appreciation for music, Pathfinders, and Vacation Bible School.

I was fortunate to receive an Adventist education from elementary school through college, attending Hawaiian Mission Academy Ka Lama Iki, Hawaiian Mission Academy, and Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. My passion for education began early as a student, where I discovered a love not only for learning but also for sharing knowledge with others. Throughout college, this passion grew as I had opportunities to teach others—whether it was swimming, Bible songs, or teamwork skills. After four years of deepening my commitment to education, I graduated this June with a Bachelor of Science degree, a minor in history, and secondary teaching credentials.

This summer, I answered the call to teach on Hawai’i Island and now serve as the K-2 teacher at Mauna Loa Christian School in Hilo. I am excited about the experiences my students will have both inside and outside the classroom this school year. My philosophy is to create an engaging, interactive learning environment where students are encouraged to explore with curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world through the lens of God’s love.

Kelsey Workman

Kona Adventist Christian School

Kelsey Workman has over 15 years of experience in education, shaped by her upbringing in an Adventist household where her father serves as a pastor and her mother as a teacher. Her love for teaching began overseas in Micronesia, where she began working with kindergarten and preschool students. Soon after, she went on to teach ESL to middle school students in Seoul, South Korea, and for the last eight years she has been helping on the leeward side of O’ahu.

Kelsey graduated from Southwestern Adventist University and earned an MBA from Andrews University. Passionate about helping in the community, she also enjoys traveling and reading during her free time. Moving from O’ahu, she is now looking forward to a new chapter as head teacher at Kona Adventist Christian School on the Big Island of Hawai’i. She is eager to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the upcoming school year.

Special Guests Appearing for Hawaii Pathfinder Camporee

Pathfinder clubs from across the Hawaiian Islands will gather from October 16 to 19, 2025, for a camporee filled with Pathfinder honors, worship, outreach, and fellowship. Centered on the theme “Yield to the Master’s Plan,” attendees will explore the inspiring stories of Esther and Joseph, young people who found God’s purpose by fully surrendering to Him.

To add to the excitement, we’re welcoming special guests from the 2024 International Pathfinder Camporee in Gillette, Wyoming, which was themed “Believe the Promise.” Some of the cast who brought the Bible to life on stage will be in Hawaii, ready to inspire and challenge Pathfinders with their stories of faith.

This camporee offers a chance to do more than just camp; it’s about growing closer to Christ, forming lasting friendships, and experiencing the joy of being part of a global Pathfinder movement right here in Hawaii.
