Women Gather on Big Island for Fellowship and Inspiration

The LEIS Christian Women’s Retreat, held in beautiful Waikoloa Kona, was incredibly inspiring—a haven of peace for women of all faiths. From the gorgeous ocean views of Waikoloa beach to the majestic mountains of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, the tropical warmth of the islands set the mood for a vibrant, engaging, and welcoming retreat.

The promise shared throughout the weekend by our wonderful speaker, Peggy Casebier, was that King Jesus is working behind the scenes on our behalf and for our good. It reminded me that despite my failures, shortcomings, and disappointments, Jesus is working in me whether I feel it or not. Experiences, whether good or bad, shape and mold my life to be a testimony for all and a light in this dark world that points to King Jesus.

One of my favorite parts of the retreat was the music festival. Twelve of us ladies wore matching shirts on Sabbath afternoon, and although we didn’t sign up to sing, our fellow sister in Christ was impressed to ask us to sing. She even offered to play the piano for us, so basically we had no choice. What better way to showcase our matching shirts and share our beautiful talent of singing with all in attendance. If I remember her words correctly, she said, “You did not come all the way from Oahu to not sing.” We blessed everyone with a couple of choruses that we hold dear to our heart. The lyrics in one of our songs assure us, “I just keep trusting my Lord, as I walk along. I just keep trusting the Lord as He gives a song. Though the storm clouds darken the sky o’er the heavenly trail, I just keep trusting my Lord, He will never fail.”

King Jesus has proven time and time again that He will never fail us, and I will continue to trust in Him. Thank you, LEIS committee, for giving me and 134 ladies the opportunity to share in His promise and for reminding us all that we are beautiful daughters of the most high King.
