“We Are Family”

This spring, more than 600 participants gathered at Glendale Adventist Academy for the Southern California Conference (SCC) Adventurer Fun Day organized by SCC Youth Ministries. More than 30 Adventurer clubs came together for a joyful day centered around this year’s theme: “We Are Family.”

The day began with an opening ceremony where instructions were shared and everyone was encouraged to enjoy the activities and build friendships. Paulo Tenorio, SCC youth ministries director, shared an inspiring message with the children and families.

Adventurers ages 4 to 9, their families, directors, and church leaders enjoyed a full day of activities, laughter, and fellowship. The event included fun stations such as shaved ice, crafts, a scavenger hunt, balloon making, playing in the jumper, obstacle courses, face painting, archery, and water bubbles. Everywhere around campus, smiles and excitement filled the air as Adventurers connected with friends old and new.

Several Adventurers shared their excitement about the day’s activities.

“This is a beautiful day,” shared a young participant from Glendale Spanish church. “I like all the games. They were very fun, and I am happy to be here.”

“All the racing games are fun because you race with other people and they race with you,” said an Adventurer from Los Olivos Spanish church.

Another child from Lancaster Spanish church shared, “What I liked about this was the giant bubbles and all the fun things we had—like the snow cones. That was good!”

During the program, Adventurers also received a spiritual message of God’s love and His call to live as part of His family. At the closing ceremony, children were blessed with small presents as a special reminder of the joy and lessons learned that day.

One Adventurer simply shared, “We learned that we are all part of God’s family.”

One of the most memorable moments was the activity called “Be the Light.” During the interactive presentation, Tenorio asked questions and invited the children to choose between the “light” side or the “dark” side, depending on whether an action was right or wrong—for example, sharing food with someone, booing someone, or helping someone who fell. The Adventurers enthusiastically participated, making the lesson both meaningful and fun.

Throughout the event, the spirit of teamwork and fellowship was clear. Families, leaders, and children enjoyed spending time together while creating lasting memories and embracing the message “We Are Family: Together. Grow. Go.”

The SCC Adventurer Fun Day was a beautiful reminder that when we come together in faith, friendship, and love, we truly become one family in Christ. Together we grow and together we go.

Esta primavera, más de 600 participantes se reunieron en la Glendale Adventist Academy para el día de diversión para Aventureros de la Southern California Conference (SCC), organizado por SCC Youth Ministries. Más de 30 clubes de a\Aventureros se reunieron para un día alegre centrado en el tema de este año: “Somos familia”.

El día comenzó con una ceremonia de apertura donde se compartieron instrucciones y se animó a todos a disfrutar de las actividades y a forjar amistades. Paulo Tenorio, director del ministerio de jóvenes de SCC, compartió un mensaje inspirador con los niños y las familias.

Aventureros de 4 a 9 años, sus familias, directores y líderes de la iglesia disfrutaron de un día completo de actividades, risas y compañerismo. El evento incluyó estaciones divertidas como raspados, manualidades, una búsqueda del tesoro, globos, jugar en el jumper, circuitos de obstáculos, pintura facial, tiro al arco y burbujas de agua. Por todo el campus, sonrisas y emoción llenaban el aire mientras los Aventureros se conectaban con viejos y nuevos amigos.

Varios aventureros compartieron su entusiasmo por las actividades del día.

“Es un día precioso”, compartió un joven participante de la iglesia hispana de Glendale. “Me gustan todos los juegos. Fueron muy divertidos, y estoy feliz de estar aquí”.

“Todos los juegos de carreras son divertidos porque corres con otras personas y corren contigo”, dijo un aventurero de la iglesia hispana de Los Olivos.

Otro niño de la iglesia hispana de Lancaster compartió: “Lo que más me gustó fueron las burbujas gigantes y todas las cosas divertidas que teníamos, como los raspados, que me gustaron mucho”.

Durante el programa, los Aventureros también recibieron un mensaje espiritual sobre el amor de Dios y su llamado a vivir como parte de su familia. En la ceremonia de clausura, los niños recibieron pequeños regalos como un recordatorio especial de la alegría y las lecciones aprendidas ese día.

Un aventurero simplemente compartió: “Aprendimos que todos formamos parte de la familia de Dios”.

Uno de los momentos más memorables fue la actividad llamada “Sé la luz”. Durante la presentación interactiva, Tenorio hizo preguntas e invitó a los niños a elegir entre el lado “luminoso” o el lado “oscuro”, dependiendo de si una acción era correcta o incorrecta —por ejemplo, compartir comida con alguien, abuchear a alguien o ayudar a alguien que se cayó. Los Aventureros participaron con entusiasmo, haciendo que la lección fuera tanto significativa como divertida.

Durante todo el evento, el espíritu de trabajo en equipo y compañerismo fue evidente. Las familias, los líderes y los niños disfrutaban pasando tiempo juntos mientras creaban recuerdos duraderos y abrazaban el mensaje “Somos familia: Juntos. Crece. Ve.”

El día de diversión para Aventureros de SCC fue un hermoso recordatorio de que, cuando nos unimos en fe, amistad y amor, realmente nos convertimos en una sola familia en Cristo. Juntos crecemos y juntos vamos.
