The Northern California Conference Youth Department recently hosted its annual Freshman-Sophomore Retreat at Leoni Meadows, bringing together 375 students from our schools. The weekend offered more than just activities—it was designed to help students deepen their understanding of the truth found in biblical stories and develop new tools to apply that truth in their daily lives.
Guiding the retreat was a dedicated team of 58 juniors and seniors who had completed a two-day training with the youth ministry team. Eddie Heinrich, youth and young adult director, explained, “We guide these leaders on how to engage with the younger students from the very first day, creating a steady progression of intimacy and reflection. By Sunday, the goal is to have fostered real, meaningful connections.”
By the end of the weekend, students left equipped with not only a more in-depth understanding of the Bible but also strengthened skills and a renewed sense of purpose. Heinrich concluded, “Our hope is that they return to their schools ready to demonstrate what they’ve learned and model Christlike behavior with their classmates.”

Líderes estudiantiles formando líderes
El Departamento de Jóvenes de la Northern California Conference organizó recientemente su retiro anual de primer y segundo año en Leoni Meadows, reuniendo a 375 estudiantes de nuestras escuelas. El fin de semana ofreció mucho más que actividades: estuvo diseñado para ayudar a los estudiantes a profundizar en su comprensión de la verdad que se encuentra en las historias bíblicas y desarrollar nuevas herramientas para aplicar esa verdad en su vida diaria.
Guiando el retiro estuvo un equipo dedicado de 58 estudiantes de tercer y último año que habían completado una formación de dos días con el equipo del Departamento de Jóvenes. Eddie Heinrich, el director de jóvenes, explicó: «Guiamos a esos líderes sobre cómo relacionarse con los estudiantes más jóvenes desde el primer día, creando una progresión constante de intimidad y reflexión. Para el domingo, el objetivo es haber fomentado conexiones reales y significativas».
Al final del fin de semana, los estudiantes se marcharon equipados no solo con una comprensión más profunda de la Biblia, sino también con habilidades fortalecidas y un renovado sentido de propósito. Heinrich concluyó: «Nuestra esperanza es que regresen a sus escuelas preparados para demostrar lo que han aprendido y para modelar un comportamiento cristiano con sus condiscípulos».
