In 1 Peter 4:10-11, the apostle Peter says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ” (NIV).
At Holbrook Indian School (HIS), we have been blessed by many faithful stewards this school year. February and March were busy months as we welcomed student and staff volunteers, first from Sunnydale Adventist Academy, then from Southern Adventist University (SAU). Both teams tackled projects that are essential to our campus being a productive and beautiful place for our students to learn and grow.
The centerpiece of these combined efforts was the total transformation of our campus gazebo. Over the years, the structure had begun to show its age with peeling paint and rotting boards, eventually becoming unsafe. The Sunnydale team took on the significant task of rebuilding the structure and applying a fresh coat of paint, while the SAU group followed up with the finishing touches. This collaborative effort has restored the gazebo, making it a sturdy, inviting landmark where students and staff can gather.
Beyond this central project, both teams tackled essential maintenance projects and prepped our greenhouses for spring planting, which ensured that our farm is ready for the new season. From spreading gravel around the Education Center to filling potholes along our roads and clearing debris from the barn area, they made our entire campus safer and more welcoming.
The impact of these visits extended far beyond physical labor. While integrating themselves into our community, sharing meals in the cafeteria, and joining in evening worships, the volunteers offered encouraging testimonies and songs that inspired our students. From Sunnydale’s VBS activities to SAU’s wonderful Sabbath services, the fellowship was a powerful reminder of our shared mission. We are profoundly grateful to both Sunnydale Adventist Academy and SAU for their energy and for making our campus a safer, more beautiful place to live, learn, and grow.

Transformación de primavera en HIS
En 1 Pedro 4:10-11, el apóstol Pedro dice: «Cada uno ponga al servicio de los demás el don que haya recibido, administrando bien la gracia de Dios en sus diversas formas.El que habla, hágalo como quien expresa las palabras mismas de Dios; el que presta algún servicio, hágalo con la fortaleza que Dios le proporciona. Así Dios será en todo alabado por medio de Jesucristo».
En Holbrook Indian School (HIS), hemos sido bendecidos por muchos administradores fieles este curso. Febrero y marzo fueron meses ajetreados en los que dimos la bienvenida a estudiantes y voluntarios del personal, primero de Sunnydale Adventist Academy y después de Southern Adventist University (SAU). Ambos equipos abordaron proyectos esenciales para que nuestro campus sea un lugar productivo y hermoso para que nuestros estudiantes aprendan y crezcan.
El eje central de esos esfuerzos combinados fue la transformación total de nuestro gazebo del campus. Con los años, la estructura empezó a mostrar su antigüedad con pintura descascarada y tablas podridas, volviéndose finalmente inseguro. El equipo de Sunnydale asumió la importante tarea de reconstruir la estructura y aplicar una nueva capa de pintura, mientras que el grupo de SAU continuó con los últimos retoques. Ese esfuerzo colaborativo ha restaurado el gazebo, convirtiéndolo en un lugar emblemático y acogedor donde estudiantes y personal pueden reunirse.
Más allá de ese proyecto central, ambos equipos se encargaron de proyectos de mantenimiento esenciales y prepararon nuestros invernaderos para la siembra de primavera, lo que aseguró que nuestra granja estuviera lista para la nueva temporada. Desde esparcir grava alrededor del Centro de Educación hasta rellenar baches a lo largo de nuestras carreteras y limpiar escombros en la zona del granero, hicieron que todo nuestro campus fuera más seguro y acogedor.
El impacto de esas visitas fue mucho más allá del trabajo físico. Mientras se integraban en nuestra comunidad, compartían comidas en la cafetería y participaban en los cultos vespertinos, los voluntarios ofrecían testimonios y cantos alentadores que inspiraron a nuestros estudiantes. Desde las actividades de VBS por Sunnydale hasta los maravillosos servicios de sábado de SAU, la convivencia fue un recordatorio poderoso de nuestra misión compartida. Estamos profundamente agradecidos tanto a Sunnydale Adventist Academy como a SAU por su energía y por hacer de nuestro campus un lugar más seguro y hermoso para vivir, aprender y crecer.
