This May, hundreds of leaders in SCC churches gathered for training and fellowship from all areas of the conference—from Santa Barbara to Rolling Hills—for Equip26. Thirteen breakout sessions included classes titled “Reaching Gen Z Today,” “Seeking the Shalom of the City: The Church in the New Mission Field,” “The Steward’s Calling: Managing God’s Resources With Integrity,” and more.
“The goal of Equip26,” shared SCC Executive Secretary and Ministerial Director Danny Chan, “is to resource and inspire ministry leaders in our conference to deepen and expand their reach in the communities they serve. We recognize that Equip attendees are often the hardest working and most devoted leaders in the local church, so gathering them for equipping is the least we can do to support them in ministry.”
Starting with a general session, all attendees came together for a short welcome message before breakout sessions began and people dispersed to the classes that interested them and were most relevant to their ministry.
“It’s a way for resources, if you need help,” remarked Raquel Romero from Lincoln Heights Spanish church. “You’re not alone. You have a church that will help you. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the Hispanic region, any type of region—we’re all together as one family.”
Beyond the training aspect, Equip26 allowed for connection between members whose churches are in different parts of the conference. The day ended with everyone gathered together one last time to hear about similar events coming up, like Impact26 in September.
“The event made me feel inspired to become a better leader, and it also made me want to inspire others to be a better leader as well,” shared Isai Bercian from Lancaster Spanish church. “It made me think of ministry in a different way that I never thought of before.”
“Healthy churches do not happen by accident,” Chan noted. “They are cultivated through intentional investment in leaders. Equip26 was created to bring pastors, educators, and local church leaders together around practical tools, shared resources, and meaningful relationships. We believe that when leaders gather and share resources, our churches become healthier and our communities are better served.”
“There’s so much information that’s given. It can be used in so many different ways. And no matter the age—from young children to my age, seniors—it’s just so much to learn and you can take back to many others,” Aarona Pollard from Philadelphian church said with a smile. “So if you’re not sure about attending, come. You’ll love it.”

SCC Equip vuelve en su segundo año de capacitación
Este mayo, cientos de líderes de iglesias de SCC se reunieron para formar y compartir convivencia desde todas las áreas de la conferencia —desde Santa Bárbara hasta Rolling Hills— para Equip26. Trece sesiones de trabajo incluyeron clases tituladas “Llegando a la Generación Z hoy”, “Buscando el Shalom de la Ciudad: La Iglesia en el Nuevo Campo Misionero”, “La Vocación del Mayordomo: Gestionando los Recursos de Dios con Integridad” y más.
“El objetivo de Equip26”, compartió el secretario ejecutivo y director ministerial de SCC, Danny Chan, “es apoyar e inspirar a los líderes ministeriales en nuestra conferencia para profundizar y ampliar su alcance en las comunidades a las que sirven. Reconocemos que los asistentes a Equip26 suelen ser los líderes más trabajadores y dedicados de la iglesia, así que reunirlos para equiparlos es lo mínimo que podemos hacer para apoyarlos en su ministerio”.
Comenzando con una sesión general, todos los asistentes se reunieron para un breve mensaje de bienvenida antes de que comenzaran las sesiones y la gente se dispersara a las clases que les interesaban y eran más relevantes para su ministerio.
“Es una forma de conseguir recursos, si necesitas ayuda”, comentó Raquel Romero de la iglesia hispana de Lincoln Heights. “No estás solo. Tienes una iglesia que te ayudará. No importa si estás en la región hispana, en cualquier tipo de región: todos estamos juntos como una misma familia”.
Además del aspecto formativo, Equip26 permitió la conexión entre miembros cuyas iglesias están en diferentes partes de la conferencia. El día terminó con todos reunidos para escuchar sobre eventos similares que se avecinaban, como Impact26 en septiembre.
“El evento me inspiró para convertirme en un mejor líder, y también me hizo querer inspirar a otros para que sean mejores líderes”, compartió Isai Bercian desde la iglesia hispana de Lancaster. “Me hizo pensar en el ministerio de una manera diferente de lo que nunca había pensado antes”.
“Las iglesias sanas no ocurren por accidente”, señaló Chan. “Se cultivan mediante la inversión intencionada en los líderes. Equip26 fue creado para reunir a pastores, educadores y líderes de iglesias en torno a herramientas prácticas, recursos compartidos y relaciones significativas. Creemos que cuando los líderes se reúnen y comparten recursos, nuestras iglesias se vuelven más saludables y nuestras comunidades están mejor atendidas”.
“Hay mucha información disponible. Se puede usar de muchas maneras diferentes. No importa la edad —desde niños pequeños hasta los mayores— hay mucho que aprender y puedes llevar a muchos otros”, dijo Aarona Pollard de la iglesia Filadelfia con una sonrisa. “Así que si no estás seguro de asistir, ven. Te va a encantar”.
