Elder Kamil Metz has been appointed Director of Literature Ministries for the Pacific Union Conference, a role in which he will guide the union’s literature evangelism portfolio. Metz will provide strategic leadership for literature ministries across the seven conferences of the Pacific Union and coordinate collaborative initiatives with the North American Division and other partners.
Metz will work closely with conference administrators and literature leaders to strengthen a shared vision for literature ministries, mentor emerging leaders, and foster collaborative planning among Youth Rush, GLOW, SOULS West, and other outreach initiatives. With nearly three decades in literature ministry and pastoral work, Metz brings a broad understanding of how literature evangelism can support church growth, discipleship, and community engagement. His leadership has included directing conference-wide literature ministries, guiding student and young adult teams, and helping congregations integrate literature sharing into their overall evangelistic strategy. He has also provided global coordination and training for literature initiatives in multiple world regions, giving him a unique perspective on how best practices can be contextualized for the Pacific Union.
With more than 28 years of experience in literature ministry, pastoral ministry, and global outreach, Metz is widely known for building teams and mentoring young leaders. His ministry has included helping churches develop practical, mission-focused outreach that connects with local communities and diverse cultures. “Literature ministry has shaped my life and calling, and I have seen again and again how God uses simple printed pages to change hearts,” Metz said. “It is a privilege to serve alongside the leaders and young people of the Pacific Union as we share hope and truth through literature across this territory.”
A veteran literature ministries leader, Metz served for more than 17 years as director of Literature Ministries for the Michigan Conference, where he provided overall leadership for conference-wide literature ministry in churches, schools, and seasonal outreach programs. During that time, he led a year-round departmental team and coordinated up to 100 student literature evangelists each summer.
Metz has contributed to the development of training resources and ministry tools, including materials for youth evangelists and local church literature leaders, and has written for denominational resource series focused on local church personal ministries. He has also served as GLOW International coordinator, providing global coordination and strategic development for GLOW across multiple world divisions. He currently serves as a district pastor in the Indiana Conference, leading a multi-ethnic district with several congregations and a church school.
His academic preparation includes a Bachelor of Theological Studies, an MBA from Western Governors University, and training through the George King Institute, a precursor to the SOULS East and SOULS West programs.
Kamil and his wife, Annette, will be relocating to the Pacific Union from their home in Evansville, Indiana, and are the parents of two young adults, Rebekah and Micah. He enjoys mentoring young leaders, engaging with local communities through creative outreach, and supporting congregations as they discover practical ways to share their faith.
The Pacific Union Conference welcomes Pastor Metz to this strategic leadership role and anticipates the vision, experience, and spiritual commitment he will bring to literature ministries throughout the Pacific Union.
