On the evening of Feb. 27, the Loma Linda University Church (LLUC) auditorium was filled with over 500 young adults for a night of worship. For the second year, the Collective Night was hosted on the LLUC campus and featured diverse styles of music and expression to God. Organized by worship leader and young adult Cameron Jordan, the night was designed to bring unity in worship. “Collective Night is all about bringing people from different cultures and walks of life into one space for the shared purpose of worshipping God and strengthening the body of Christ,” said Jordan.
With Ephesians 4:3-6 as the central theme, the emphasis of oneness was the focus. As a meaningful expression of submission and exaltation to God, there is not simply one approach to worship. Jordan’s vision for the night reflected this.
“If you look up the word ‘collective’ in the Cameron Jordan dictionary, it would say ‘an intentional gathering of people for a common purpose,’” he said. That purpose was evident not only in the diversity of musical styles represented but in the level of participation throughout the night. Reflecting on the first year, Jordan admitted he expected some hesitation. Instead, “you could see hundreds of young adults engaged through clapping, moving, and singing their hearts out to God,” a response that affirmed the need for a space free of judgment. Attendees were invited to move beyond observation into active engagement—singing, responding, and stepping into unfamiliar expressions of worship.
A short message shared by Samuel Baker, youth and young adult ministry coordinator at San Bernardino Community church, grounded the experience in kingdom culture. “One of the beautiful things of Collective Night is that we get to break down the walls of Black ministry, Hispanic ministry, or any other ministry, and we get to come here and experience kingdom,” shared Baker. The call for intentional pursuit of unity in Christ carried throughout the night into the final moments of worship.
Jordan emphasized that the event itself was a collective effort. From ministry leaders and creatives to the large ensemble of singers known as “the Collective,” the night reflected collaboration at every level. By bringing together a wide range of backgrounds and expressions, Collective Night revealed a growing desire among young adults to gather with purpose, engaging both their faith and one another in meaningful ways.

Noche colectiva acoge a más de 500 personas en adoración
La noche del 27 de febrero, el auditorio de Loma Linda University Church (LLUC) se llenó con más de 500 jóvenes para un culto vespertino. Por segundo año, la Noche Colectiva se celebró en el campus de LLUC y presentó diversos estilos musicales y de expresión a Dios. Organizada por el líder de adoración Cameron Jordan, la noche fue diseñada para fomentar la unidad en la adoración. «Collective Night trata de reunir a personas de diferentes culturas y procedencias en un solo espacio con el propósito común de adorar a Dios y fortalecer el cuerpo de Cristo», dijo Jordan.
Con Efesios 4:3-6 como tema central, el énfasis de la unidad fue el tema principal. Como expresión significativa de sumisión y exaltación a Dios, no existe simplemente un enfoque para la adoración. La visión de Jordan para la noche reflejaba eso.
«Si buscas la palabra “colectivo” en el diccionario Cameron Jordan, diría “una reunión intencionada de personas con un propósito común”», dijo. Ese propósito se evidenció no solo en la diversidad de estilos musicales representados, sino también en el nivel de participación a lo largo de la noche. Reflexionando sobre el primer año, Jordan admitió que esperaba cierta duda. En cambio, «se podía ver a cientos de jóvenes comprometidos aplaudiendo, moviéndose y cantando con todo su corazón a Dios», una reacción que afirmaba la necesidad de un espacio libre de juicios. Se invitó a los asistentes a ir más allá de la observación hacia un compromiso activo: cantar, reaccionar y adoptar expresiones de adoración desconocidas.
Un breve mensaje por Samuel Baker, coordinador de ministerio de jóvenes de la iglesia de San Bernardino, ancló la experiencia en la cultura del reino. «Una de las cosas maravillosas de la Noche Colectiva es que podemos derribar los muros del ministerio negro, hispano o cualquier otro ministerio, y podemos venir aquí y experimentar el reino», compartió Baker. El llamado a la búsqueda intencionada de la unidad en Cristo se extendió durante toda la noche hasta los momentos finales de adoración.
Jordan recalcó que el evento en sí fue un esfuerzo colectivo. Desde líderes ministeriales y creativos hasta el gran conjunto de cantantes conocido como «the Collective», la noche reflejó la colaboración en todos los niveles. Al reunir una amplia variedad de orígenes y expresiones, Collective Night reveló un deseo creciente entre los jóvenes de reunirse con propósito, involucrando tanto su fe como su relación entre ellos de manera significativa.
