Arizona Conference Holds Town Hall Meetings Ahead of Constituency Session

As the Arizona Conference prepares for its constituency meeting in October, church members across the state are being given an opportunity to hear directly from conference leadership, ask questions, and take part in conversations about the future of the church in Arizona.

The first town hall meeting took place at Glendale church on Sabbath, August 29. The following day, conference departmental directors and executive administrators traveled to Tucson, where they held two additional meetings—one at Tucson Sharon church and another at Tucson Central Spanish church.

Throughout the weekend, conference leaders shared updates on work across Arizona and provided information to help members better understand the conference as it approaches its constituency meeting.

But the gatherings were about more than presentations and reports.

One central purpose of the town hall meetings is to create space for conversation. Members can ask questions directly of conference leaders and gain a clearer picture of the ministries, challenges, and opportunities facing the conference.

The meetings also help prepare members and delegates for the constituency meeting in October. By sharing information ahead of the formal session, the town halls help participants become more familiar with the conference’s work and the matters to be addressed during the constituency process.

For conference leadership, the meetings offer an opportunity to listen and communicate. Bringing administrators, departmental directors, and church members together creates a setting for open dialogue and encourages greater understanding between the conference and its local congregations.

As the October constituency meeting approaches, additional preparations continue, along with more town hall meetings across Arizona Conference. The town hall meetings are an important step in that process, reminding members that the church’s work is strengthened when its leaders and congregations communicate, listen, and move forward together.
