Native American Ministries

Who We Are

The largest Native American church in the Pacific Union Conference is located on the Navajo reservation in the Nevada-Utah Conference—territory which is the size of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts combined, and located in the county with the highest food insecurity in the U.S.

  • Homes without running water or electricity: 33%
  • Unemployment rate: 50%
  • Alcoholism among men: 70%
  • Unwed pregnancies: 78%
What We Do

With this environment as the backdrop, the Union’s Native American Ministries focuses our efforts on skills development, resource sharing, and relationship-building with the native population. We do this through:

  • Agriculture program teaching sustainable gardening
  • Produce distribution
  • Seedling distribution
  • Providing diapers and newborn clothing
  • Providing hygiene products
  • Gardening days for children
  • Cooking programs utilizing self-grown food
  • Church services with a focus on programs for children
Become Part of What We Do!

We would love to see our Navajo brothers and sisters integrated more fully into the church at large, as the remoteness of the reservation makes it difficult for them to truly grasp what it means to be part of the Adventist community.

The need is great, and if God is calling you to help fill part of that need, we would love to connect with you about what that help might look like. Native American Ministries often hosts mission groups serving the Navajo on the reservation, and there are many ways the ministry could use financial gifts, as well.
