On Sunday, March 29, in Los Angeles, Timote and Saane Fehoko marked the grand opening and ribbon cutting of their Fehoko Concrete Inc. office with a $20,000 donation to Hawthorne church, their home church, a milestone years in the making.
Of that gift, $15,000 was directed toward the church budget, $2,500 to the youth department, and $2,500 to the Pathfinder department, reflecting a deep investment not only in the church but in the next generation.
But their success has never been defined by business alone. It has also been defined by what they were willing to walk away from.
“We’ve turned down multi-million-dollar contracts,” Mote Leka said, “because it required us to work on Sabbath. That was something we were not willing to compromise.”
That conviction began early. As a young man, Timote turned down a university opportunity because it required playing basketball on Sabbath. Some believed he could have gone even further with his basketball career, but he never saw it as a loss. He believed God had other plans.
That same belief has carried into every part of his life.
“They truly live what they believe,” said Toatepi Tonga, a longtime member of the Hawthorne church. “It’s encouraging to see their family always faithfully supporting our church.”
“This family is so hardworking for the church and always with a smile,” added Sally Madrid, also a member of the Hawthorne church.
That commitment shapes their home.
“My boys know that as long as they are under my roof, we keep the Sabbath,” Timote said.
It is a standard that is not only spoken but lived out week after week.
Today, instead of chasing contracts on the weekend, Timote can be found at church, serving alongside his family, preparing for Sabbath, and helping wherever there is a need.
The same way he always has.

Un edificio con fe: Fehoko Concrete Abre con una donación de $20,000 a la iglesia
El domingo 29 de marzo, en Los Angeles, Timote y Saane Fehoko celebraron la gran inauguración y corte de cinta de la oficina de Fehoko Concrete Inc. con una donación de 20.000 dólares a la iglesia de Hawthorne, su iglesia, un hito que llevaba años en proceso.
De esa donación, 15.000 dólares se destinaron al presupuesto de la iglesia, 2.500 al departamento de jóvenes y 2.500 a los Conquistadores, reflejando una profunda inversión no solo en la iglesia sino en la próxima generación.
Pero su éxito nunca se ha definido solo por su negocio. También se ha definido por aquello de lo que estaban dispuestos a alejarse.
«Hemos rechazado contratos multimillonarios», dijo Mote Leka, «porque nos obligaban a trabajar en sábado. Eso era algo que no estábamos dispuestos a comprometer».
Esa convicción comenzó temprano. De joven, Timote rechazó una oportunidad universitaria porque requería jugar al baloncesto en sábado. Algunos creían que podría haber llegado lejos en su carrera de baloncesto, pero él nunca lo vio como una derrota. Creía que Dios tenía otros planes.
Esa misma creencia se ha mantenido en cada parte de su vida.
«Realmente viven lo que creen», dijo Toatepi Tonga, miembro de larga trayectoria de la iglesia de Hawthorne. «Es alentador ver a su familia siempre apoyando fielmente a nuestra iglesia».
«Esa familia trabaja tanto por la iglesia y siempre con una sonrisa», añadió Sally Madrid, también miembro de la iglesia de Hawthorne.
Ese compromiso moldea su hogar.
«Mis chicos saben que mientras estén bajo mi techo, celebramos el sábado», dijo Timote. Es un estándar que no solo se habla, sino que se vive semana tras semana.
Hoy, en lugar de procurar contratos los fines de semana, se le puede encontrar en la iglesia, sirviendo junto a su familia, preparándose para el sábado y ayudando donde sea necesario. De la misma manera que siempre lo ha hecho.
